FREDERICTON (GNB) – NB Liquor today released its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended Sept. 28, 2014.

Total sales for this second quarter were $111.9 million, up $3.3 million (three per cent) from the second quarter last year. Net earnings increased $2.2 million (4.7 per cent) to $48.5 million, for the same period.

"Weather-driven demand was high in the second quarter, positively affecting the beer and other beverages categories, which includes ciders and ready-to-drink beverages," said Brian Harriman, president and CEO of NB Liquor. "Successful promotions contributed to continued strong growth in the wine category.”

Key product sales trends for the second quarter compared to the same quarter last year:

  • Wine sales increased 7.1 per cent, up $1.5 million.
  • Spirit sales increased 1.2 per cent, up $ 300,000.

  • Other beverages increased 7.7 per cent, up $ 500,000.

“I am extremely pleased with the increase in net income over last year,” said Harriman. “Focusing on customer service and operating efficiently continue to be leading factors in producing a positive net income.”
