Dr. Sandra Turcotte, an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been named Assistant Scientific Director (New Brunswick) for the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute.

This new role will enhance local awareness of the institute, solicit new partners as well as provide a strong and unified voice for cancer research in the region.

Dr. Turcotte is a member of BHCRI’s Management Advisory Council and has been involved with the Institute since 2012. Several of Dr. Turcotte’s students have been supported by BHCRI over the years, including her current PhD student, Patric Page.

“I am really excited to start this new role and responsibilities. It will give me the opportunity to interact with researchers, health-care professionals, institutions, and potential new partners in New Brunswick to provide insights and perspective on BHCRI’s activities which could improve collaborations and funding.” says Dr. Turcotte.

About the Institute:

Created in 2009 through a bequest to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute exists to foster a collaborative, productive and capacity-building cancer research effort in Atlantic Canada.

The Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute brings together a diverse community of cancer researchers in pursuit of a common goal: to save lives and ease the burden of cancer on individuals, families, and society.

The Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute provides a meeting place for researchers to share ideas and forge new collaborations and offers a key entry point for students seeking training and careers in cancer research.
